Sustainability is not just an ideal to the leaders at Waste Integration– they have worked together over the past decade to make it a reality for green conscious companies nationwide. Sure, having 150 years of combined industry experience has helped. But, it has also been about being committed to doing things the right way.


Debbie Mathews - President and CEO

With her clear vision and passionate commitment, Debbie Mathews is a veteran in the business world guiding Waste Integration as it takes the forefront in the sustainability movement. Debbie Mathews acquired majority ownership of Waste Integration in 2001, and assumed the role of CEO and Chairwoman of the Board in 2004. Prior to Waste Integration, Mrs. Mathews served as Director, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer for Sunray Services, a privately held company with annual revenues in excess of $15 million and operations in Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas. Mrs. Mathews has also held financial positions with Browning Ferris Industries and Alexander Grant Company, CPA. Mrs. Mathews earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, ranking number one in her class at the University of Mississippi.  On November 8, 2012 at the LACE Awards in downtown Atlanta, Mrs. Mathews was Awarded the Category IV Trailblazer Award.


Miller Mathews – COO and Executive Vice President

Miller Mathews brings to Waste Integration unparalleled leadership experience in the areas of strategic business development and growth initiatives. Mr. Mathews began his extensive career within the waste and environmental services industry in 1963. At each of the companies he has served and owned throughout his career, Mr. Mathews has been instrumental in driving the expansion of company reach and revenue generation. Mr. Mathews has served as the Southern Area Vice President for Waste Management, Inc.; managing operations in 11 states and Puerto Rico, leading the company’s annual revenue increase to $3 billion. As an independent owner Mr. Mathews helped fuel the growth of Sunray Services, laying the groundwork for the company to generate revenues in excess of $15 million. Mr. Mathews also worked with Harry J. Phillips, Sr. and was pivotal in developing the waste services that would become Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI). In addition to his stellar track record in business, Miller Mathews has proudly served our country with the Department of Defense, Office of Naval Intelligence, Department of Justice/FBI and as a US Army Reservist. With the wisdom of each leadership position held and every life experience examined, Mr. Mathews has honed his expertise to an art which embodies the passion and charisma he brings to the field daily.


John Collins – Vice President of Sustainability Services

Mr. Collins has been in a management or consulting role with the company since 2001. In his current role, Mr. Collins manages our Sustainability Department which is tasked with assisting our customers in their diversion, recycling, and zero waste goals. In 2005 Mr. Collins helped expand our presence in the West by opening an office in Denver, CO.  From 1995 until September of 2000, Mr. Collins served as the Southern Region / Area Controller for Waste Management, Inc. (USA Waste) with fiduciary responsibilities for more than 100 financial controllers, 300 operations and $3.0 billion in annual revenues. From 1986 to 1995, Mr. Collins served in a financial capacity to line companies within the Waste Industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Illinois State University and brings more than 25 years of experience in the Solid Waste and Accounting Industries.


Kathy Barth – Director of Client Services

In her capacity as Director of Client Services, Mrs. Barth is directly responsible for account management and customer service for all of Waste Integrations clients.  Prior to her current role, Mrs. Barth has been responsible for managing Accounting and Operational functions of the company.  Prior to coming to Waste Integration Mrs. Barth had a successful 20 year accounting career most recently as the Senior Supervisor of Co-op Accounting for Tech Data Corporation. From 1982 – 1995 Mrs. Barth served as a junior accountant at Inex Vision Systems. She received her Associates Degree in Accounting from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1994. .


Maria Preiss – Director of Finance and Corporate Administration

Maria Preiss joined the Waste Integration team in August 2005 as an Accounts Payable Supervisor. In January 2006 Mrs. Preiss took over her current role managing financial, HR, and IT functions. Prior to joining Waste Integration, Mrs. Preiss served as an Accountant for Marsh and Work Solution in New York, NY.  Before working in the accounting field she worked as an educator.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Accounting at Marcy College, NY. .


Neil Sons – Director of Accounting

Neil Sons graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in accounting. Mr. Sons began working with Waste Integration in 2006 and after rapidly serving in positions of increasing responsibility; Neil Sons now oversees the entire accounting process. Neil’s expertise is in multiple areas of sophisticated financial accounting.  He has a proven track record of successfully coordinating accurate documentation of company transactions for executives and shareholders, providing key information to support decisions for fiscal growth.
